Information Governance and Data Security
Anonymous, confidential, GDPR and ICO compliant
Staying Safe knows how important it for universities to be confident that online courses that they offer to their students meet all data security and information governance requirements.
Staying Safe has worked with University IT departments and research ethics committees over the last 3 years to create a programmed that is fully compliant with GDPS, ICO requirements. All data is anonymous and confidential. Emails or names are not required to log into Staying Safe. Participants are auto-generated a random username and are asked to create a password. They are advised to email these details to themselves ( we do keep a copy of the emails they send these from) or otherwise keep a record of their log on details. In the event a student loses their username of password there is no mechanism by which we can recover these. There is no mechanism by which we ever can know the dentify of the people doing the course. This anonymity gives students confidence to access information as and when they wish. We have a set of information governance polices and procedures available for review if required.
Changes in evaluation framework in V3
V1 and V2 of Staying Safe had comprehensive pre and post module knowledge and predicted behaviour change assessment. We have sufficient data to be confident that the course is highly acceptable and effective at knowledge transfer. Therefore, for V3 we have reduced the evaluation burden for the modules to make it more attractive to students. For substance-based modules we ask whether or not a substance had ever been used and if so how often in last year. For all modules there is a single evaluation rating question at the end to guide us as to whether we need to focus our attention on improvements.
